Coming into Autumn
Four months old! Updated vitals:
Audrey: 11 lbs, 3 oz; 24 inches. Talks all the time, especially to the bird friends above her swing. Arms and legs constantly in motion. Goofy grin.
Theresa: 12 lbs, 5 oz; 24.5 inches. Gurgles, goos, and coos. Loves sitting up like a big girl in her bumbo. Full-body smile.
Jamie: 11 lbs, 6 oz; 24.5 inches. Talking more than grunting now. Gets foot-kicking, hand-waving excited for…pretty much anything. A wrinkled-nose smile, with giggles.
I haven’t posted in a while, partly because I don’t have much more than 5 minutes at a stretch to do frivolous things like post to a blog (generally if I have any time, the tasks involve household maintenance, like dishes or laundry), and partly because what interesting things are there to say? Our babies eat. They play. They sleep (sometimes, and not usually all at the same time). We go to Mass on Sundays and try to get out once or twice during the week. It’s a little like living in Groundhog Day: the same cycle repeats itself, though not always at predictable times.
Here are some developmental milestones that they’re reaching:
Grasping toys, chewing on their hands, sleeping longer at night (we’re getting there; Jamie sleeps 12-hour stretches, the girls are working on not waking themselves up), loving bathtime.
The best things: lifting a waking-up baby who rests a head on your shoulder and spreads arms out for a hug. Reading together. Finding bits and pieces of time to make casseroles–feeling like I can feed myself and Alan again, which hasn’t happened since April. Breastfeeding. The changes that come with breastfeeding (some of my shirts now fit a lot different than they used to!). Making new friends of neighbors and parishioners who love babies.
And this photo is about a month old, but it’s still one of my favorites:
