Parents and Children

July 26, 2013

The fact that our parents do not laugh hysterically when we complain that we are so, so very tired is a testament to their kindness and compassion.

Also perhaps to their lack of memory from 30+ years ago.

If my children have children, and they complain to me that they are so tired, that man, this parenting thing is exhausting, I am going to laugh.  And laugh.

And charge them for the hearing aid I will need to wear to compensate for my hearing loss.

Have I mentioned my kids are loud?

And that it’s kind of schizophrenic having three conversations going simultaneously, and then they just get louder because they are two and there’s three of them and yelling is really fun?

Anyways.

My parents visited for 16 days, and we had a blast.

One other thing I love about having my parents visit, other than that they don’t carry a grudge for how I was as a toddler (or teenager):

The sound of my children making my parents laugh, or vice-versa, is one of the sweetest and most heart-filling sounds I have ever heard.

Oh, that’s too funny about you laughing at your children once they become parents themselves 🙂 Hehehe…
I am so glad I got to meet your parents in person!
